A Christmas Carol

I was at Theatre Calgary tonight to see this year performance of Christmas Carol, scene adapted story of Charles Dickens. On the way home I was asking myself how come a person could write so many stunning novels is his short life- time. Although his novels are the reflection of the industrial age of his time, they are still timeless, unforgettable works.
The Christmas Carol, the result of the author's need of money while expecting his fifth child, is believed to be one the best loved and most read Christmas story books.
Dicken’s description of Christmas in Christmas Carol: “ a good time: a kind, forgiving, charitable pleasant time: the only time I know of in the long calendar of the year when men and women seem by one consent to open their shut-up heart freely, and to think of other people’s below them as if they really were fellow passengers to the grave, and not another race of creatures bound on other journeys”.
I also believe that the famous Christmas movie “The Nightmare before Christmas” by Tim Burtons is inspired by this Dicknes’ novel!
My most favorite novel of Dickens is "Great Expectations"and truly who can believe that this impressive novel written about120 years ago is still one of the most exciting novels of the world?
