Persepolis
I saw Persepolis tonight, the autobiography of Marjane Satrapi, the Iranian Graphic novelist living in France. I loved her movie because she became a hero of her time with her work while it is not the era of Heroism. She distinguished out her black and white cartoon while there are so many 3D animated Disney and Hollywood cartoons being produced every day. Persepolis is the story of many Iranian women who experienced revolution, war and living far from the home and I’m sure everyone can find a portion of herself in this movie.
In her book, she mentions when she was a little girl someone asked her what she wanted to be when she were grown up and she answered a prophet and truely she became a prophet. Using her creativity and graphic abilities, she learned it very well how to introduce herself to the world. It is also true that she might have been lucky to meet the right people who could help her at the right moments, but she was also brave enough to intelligently use all those resources. As an Iranian woman, I adore her no matter if narrow minded conservative people call her movie a political one. Her movie was a great source of inspiration for me and I am so thankful to her. I love people who turn their dreams to reality.
