Being passionate...
I think living alone for a while starts to change people’s view about the world and how they judge other people. I believe the hardest part of being an immigrant is the times of getting into trouble especially if the problem seems unsolvable at the beginning. It’s natural that a person who lives with her family would bring up the problem with the family as the first approach, but in case of living in far distance informing the family not only does not help anything but can cause the family get worried unnecessarily.
When a person needs to challenge daily life by herself, after a while her criteria gets different. She will stop judging other people by their appearance after a while. I see how some people who lose something important in life like one of their parents act more comssionate about other people. When I was doing my research for my landscape architecture thesis, I spent a lot of time understanding how people in desert perceive the world from other people. Their view to the world is as simple and as minimal of their landscape. A Sheppard or a farmer spends all his lives in the field but he becomes more passionate about all the changes in nature, other than judging other people.
